While some people are completely comfortable playing the dating the game, there are many people out there who aren't. They may not have a lot of self-confidence or they may just simply be confused about the opposite sex. Not knowing if someone returns your interest can be nerve racking when you are trying to determine if you should pursue them. This is where having a little knowledge of some signs of attraction would come in handy.

There are many signs of attraction that are same for both men and women, like preening for example. When a man or a woman is interested in someone, they want to look their best. If he or she constantly adjusts their clothing (rubbing or playing with a tie or lapel, tugging on a blouse) or smoothes their hair, these are signs of attraction.

Other signs of attraction can be (but not always) gender specific. Men will generally stand very tall, as to show off all of their physical attributes. They also will tend to lean in to talk to you, so they can get closer to you. Men also will want you to see them checking you out. It's his way of letting you know he is definitely interested.

The signs of attraction that a female is interested may be a little different from those of men. For instance, if a girl that likes you makes eye contact with you, then looks away and fidgets or makes a nervous gesture (like playing with her hands or her hair) that is a sign that you make her nervous because she is attracted to you. Additional signs of attraction from a female are smiling when you make eye contact, showing her open palms (indicating she is comfortable with you) and touching you (arm, hand, etc) when she is talking to you.
